PayHoursLab publishes calculators and explanatory guides about work hours, pay and paid time off in the United States. Every calculator page states its formula, inputs, example and the cases it cannot resolve. We distinguish a federal baseline from an employer policy or a state-specific rule.
How we check information
We prioritize federal and state agency material for legal rules, link directly to the source on the relevant page, and date substantive reviews. When a rule varies by state, plan or employment classification, the page explains that limit instead of presenting one national answer. A displayed review date identifies the last substantive check, not a guarantee that every linked rule remains current.
How calculations work
Current tools calculate in the browser from the values you enter. The overtime estimate assumes one base hourly rate and a chosen weekly threshold and multiplier. Time and a half multiplies an entered rate by 1.5. PTO balance uses a simple transaction ledger. PTO accrual divides an annual allowance evenly among pay periods. Each tool identifies the assumptions beside the result and explains why a paycheck or benefits portal may differ.
Corrections and limitations
We aim to correct material errors and update affected pages when rules or sources change. The tools provide educational estimates. They do not establish a legal right, determine worker classification, compute withholding or replace advice from a qualified professional. For a dispute, consult official labor agencies and your actual pay or policy records.
